Chef Jason McClure stopped by Tiny Green Mom to show us how to make a family-friendly frozen concoction called a granita, made with loads of fresh strawberries in season! It is sure to hit the spot on a hot summer day!
Fresh Strawberry Granita
1 lb. strawberries, hulled and quartered
3 T. sugar
½ C. water
Lemon juice to taste
Pinch of salt
Toss the berries with the sugar and allow to macerate for several hours. Puree strawberries with water, pinch of salt and add lemon juice to balance. Place in a shallow dish and freeze. Stir every 30 to 45 minutes until frozen. When ready to serve, scrape with a fork and spoon into glasses.
