I visited his blog and saw this:”The issue with the majority of fish oils sold in North America and many other parts of the world is that they are not technically “oils”. By definition “fats and oils” are fatty acids bound to a glycerol backbone, otherwise known as triglycerides (TG). This is how fats are primarily found in nature (fish, nuts, seeds, etc). The common practice of concentrating fish oils requires the removal of this glycerol backbone and replacing it with ethanol (alcohol). The technical definition of this newly formed molecule is a “fatty acid ethyl ester” or just ethyl ester (EE) for short. Due to the cost advantage, most concentrated fish oils on the market are in the EE form, even the ones sold by leading national brands. These products, like their natural TG counterparts, are labeled simply as fish oil.”
Now I need to check out what my fish oil has in it!
