Going from winter to spring is exciting and it’s also a great time to eat lots of soup. Since spring weather is still cool with occasional rain showers, it’s a good time to eat more soup, which will keep you hydrated and give your body the proper nutrition it needs. Going into a more active season your body will need plenty of antioxidants and minerals to fight off bugs that are in the air as well as hydrate your body when you’re out running errands and enjoying life.

Antioxidants are especially found in fresh veggies and natural ingredients that you should incorporate into your homemade soup.

Use Fresh Ingredients

Be aware that fresh ingredients are what contain the most antioxidants. Using fresh ingredients to make chicken noodle soup or the soup of your choice will cut back on sodium, which in large amounts isn’t healthy for your body. When you’re not making soup from scratch, be aware that the ingredients on the can of soup won’t call nutrients antioxidants. Instead you should look for specific vitamins that will be mentioned, such as beta-carotene, lycopene, vitamin C, vitamin E and vitamin A.

Getting dehydrated isn’t something that happens only during the winter months. Since spring time will sometimes be chilly as well, you’re still at risk for dehydration. To combat getting dehydrated eat soups with plenty of water. It’s recommended to thin out condensed soup so that you will increase the amount of water your body will intake. Stay hydrated and you’ll be more productive and active throughout your day.
